Simple Stromboli

With every baby that I have been pregnant with comes the never-ending heart burn. With Evelyn being 11 months old, this time it has really stuck around.. While I love the traditional pizzas, Stromboli's, and calzones,..my stomach does not appreciate them.

Today in the kitchen with the help of my little set of hands, brought to you by Elias, we are making

BBQ Chicken Stromboli.

Kitchen time with children is very important to me and to them. They are learning: being taught recipes and how to feed themselves and their loved ones. Obviously along with that comes the best bonding time. Being told "good job cutting that carefully", "that looks great", or "wow this tastes amazing" will install a great deal of pride, confidence and accomplishment. I try to encourage them whenever possible.

So lets get started! Here are the ingredients needed below:
ree

A can of pizza dough

Mozzarella Cheese: 2 Cups

BBQ sauce: 2 Cups

Precooked chicken breast: 1 breast cooked and shredded

1 Egg

Note: You can add onion and peppers as well but this is our kid friendly version.

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375. This seems to be the perfect temp to be able to cook the dough and warm everything on the inside as well. Getting ooey gooey cheesy bites.:)

Step 2: Roll out the dough, enough to be able to have a decent surface but not to thin. approx 1/4 to 1/2 inch in thickness

(your helper can do this)

Step 3: Mix in BBQ sauce to chicken. You are looking for it to be wet. but not dripping in sauce.

Step 4: Mix in cheese to chicken mixture

ree

Step 5: Spread mixture evenly over dough and add a little extra cheese.

Your helper has "got this" as my son said

Step 6: Fold over sides of dough meeting in the middle and slightly overlapping and then turn over on tray.

Step 7: Brush egg white on top and sprinkle on garlic salt.

ree

Step 8: Bake that bad boy in the oven for about 30 minutes. You are looking for a crispy brown top. Our oven is older and bakes great but usually fast as well.

ree

Step 9: Take it out of the oven and cut it with a bread knife if you have one, it makes the perfect slices. Serve up with a side salad of your choice and either ranch or marinara for dip. whichever you prefer;).

ENJOY!!

Remember cooking for your family can be fun and not a chore. Try to include your children or spouse. What filling will you put in your Stromboli? Wilson Wonders.
